Chris Ummer - Castleton State '85
Coach Ummer has been the women’s cross country coach since 1993 and the men’s coach since 1995. During that period he has been named conference, district, and regional coach of the year numerous times. Ummer has served as the conference and regional chairman of cross country as well as men’s and women’s regional NAIA rater.
Under Ummer’s leadership the men’s and women’s cross country teams have advanced seven times to the NAIA national championships and twice to the USCAA national championships. In addition, he teaches a number of courses in Lyndon’s Exercise Science Department. Prior to being named the Director of Athletics (2004) for the Hornets, Chris served as Lyndon’s Head Athletic Trainer for 18 years and Sports Information Director for 6 years.
Ummer is a 1985 graduate of Castleton State College (BS) and a 1986 graduate of Indiana State University (MS). He lives in Lyndonville, Vt with his wife Erin and their children Zachary, Alley, and Mason.
